The Epic Games Centre at Staffordshire University

“There’s a lot of talk about the need for the industry to get more involved with the academic process and have a greater input into how games design is taught. This collaboration will enable Staffs students to have a direct link with Epic and a direct line to the heart of the industry."

The Epic Games Centre is at the heart of our unique partnership with US based game developers Epic Games.

The new centre offers students on our Games Design courses a fully equipped space to nurture their talent, as well as benefit from the expertise of Visiting Professor Mike Gamble, European Territory Manager at Epic Games.

"There’s a lot of talk about the need for the industry to get more involved with the academic process and have a greater input into how games design is taught," says Gamble. "This collaboration will enable Staffs students to have a direct link with Epic and a direct line to the heart of the industry."

In turn, Epic Games and its developer partners will have access to the University’s world-class facilities as part of a new series of Unreal Developer Days which will be hosted by Staffordshire University and run by Epic.

"We have many great courses here at Staffs but this partnership will give our students a deeper understanding of how theory is put into practice and a greater understanding of the commercial complexities of the development process," commented Dr Bobbie Fletcher.

The Epic Games Centre Launch

The Epic Games Centre was launched on January 23, 2014. Invited members of the game industry had the opportunity to meet with the next generation of UK game developers studying with us and see their latest projects.
