Animation students compete in prestigious film festival

Two Staffordshire University students were invited to take part in the 17. Internationalen Trickfilm-Festival, which took place in Stuttgart this month.
Level Three BA(Hons) Animation Students Craig Wilkinson and Matthew Duddington were asked to take part in the ‘Crazy Horse’ session of the '48hr 3D Jam' by the event’s organisers.
Their task was to create a 3D animated film of up to two minutes in length. The real challenge was that they only had 48 hours in which to do it, with no internet connection.
They were given the character of ‘Trixi’ the horse, which was taken from the festival motif, and were asked to tell a short story. The pair were one of 6 international teams who were working in a studio for 2 days, starting from midday on Wednesday 5th May. Their finished film ‘Passport’ can be viewed at http://vimeo.com/11677567
Although they didn’t win the final competition, their work will be showcased at the festival next year. You can also view Craig and Matthew’s submissions to this year’s Art and Design Show at http://www.staffs.ac.uk/degreeshow
