Match made in Hollywood for Animation graduate

A former animation student has landed a dream job working with world famous movie directors.
Becki Wilson is a trainee Match-Mover at visual effects company Cinesite. She told AMD news: “I worked on the latest Harry Potter movie, due for release this summer, and will be working on many more feature films in the future. What more could a film student ask for?"
Becki’s work involves calculating 3D camera movement in flat 2D footage, so visual effects can be added accurately to the film. She admits she has been “really lucky” with her first job. “A lot of people work in small companies for years before they have the opportunity to work on blockbusters. I trained in animation, but match moving is the way that most animators break into the industry. Future projects include working with Pixar on Andrew Stanton’s (Toy Story, Finding Nemo) new movie, due for release in 2012.
On her time at Staffordshire University, Becki said: "The technical facilities on campus are very up to date, and Cinesite came to do a lecture about special effects, which is how I discovered them.”
