Cre8 Radio Launch

Community radio for the people of North Staffordshire launched on Saturday (27/03/10) at a special event held at The Pavilion to celebrate the success of The Talking Shop project.
Cre8 Radio – on FM 87.7 and online at cre8fmradio.net – is on-air for two weeks over Easter with views, stories and creativity from the heart of Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-under-Lyme.
Featuring top student talent, Cre8 is broadcasting live from Staffordshire University’s College Road campus every day from 8am until 8pm and until 10pm on Saturday.
“Cre8 Radio is the true voice of North Staffordshire – we are celebrating the creative arts community and projects such as The Talking Shop, which has been wonderfully successful in Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-under-Lyme for many months,” said Jules McCarthy, Cre8 Radio’s station manager.
The Talking Shop uses art, media and design to make positive change in North Staffordshire by bringing people together and encouraging their creative potential and abilities.
“Our aim is to create informal learning opportunities for our community by providing a series of fun workshops and classes,” explained Chris Litherland, project co-ordinator of The Talking Shop.
“We teach film, painting, animation, photography, pottery and radio – all in the name of community, with people learning something new and having a great time.”
