Students Design Potteries of the Future

Students of the Foundation Year in Art and Design have been inspired by the regeneration of Stoke-on-Trent to re-imagine the city and create their own.
The 'Future Cities' project challenged the group to explore what already existed in Stoke and construct a 3D model which united their concepts.
After collecting cardboard boxes and similar packaging materials, they worked together to develop different quarters of their city and had to decide where the most important buildings would be situated. With each area having unique and forward-thinking features – from places of worship to wind farms – their vision of what Stoke-on-Trent could look like in the future is an impressive sight.
“The project was a great success and enabled students to think and work collectively as a team...” said Tim Forrester, Award Leader of the Foundation Year in Design course.“...'Future Cities' has shown their commitment, dedication and enthusiasm for the subject, and produced a fantastic outcome.”
Over the next decade more than £2 billion of regeneration funding is being invested to transform The Potteries into a thriving city. For more information about UniQ and the involvement of Staffordshire University, please visit http://www.uniq-stoke.com.
