Inspired Surface Pattern students light up Valentines Day

Surface Pattern Design students have seen their work go on sale with a major creative paper company.
Final year students completed a two-week project brief in September 2010 with Inspire Me Papers. The results, including paper heart lanterns designed by Claire Mayes, are now available to buy on the company’s website.
Award Leader Sarah Peart said: “There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing a group of students so very proud of their work, and who responded to the project with such a positive and professional attitude. Very rarely during my time at Staffordshire University has a student group produced such an exemplary body of work.”
The project was part of the company’s 'Supporting and Inspiring Innovation within Education' initiative and students were set briefs to design and create their own products.
Debbie Wigglesworth, Brand Manager at Inspire Me said: “It is very apparent that many of the students will ‘sail’ into industry and become prolific designers making a significant contribution in the world of design."
You can find out more about the project and purchase Claire's lanterns at Inspire Me Papers Blog.
Claire and her classmates will also be showcased at the upcoming Art and Design Show opening Friday 10th June 2011.
