Staffordshire students revitalize local neighbourhood
Staffordshire University and Stoke on Trent city council have collaborated on a project to revitalize Thornton Road, Stoke on Trent – the road that joins the Leek Road campus and College Road campus, the road has been resurfaced to be more 'pedestrian friendly' and a distinctive thoroughfare for all users.
To enhance the visual impact of the street, students within the Faculty of Arts, Media and Design have produced an appropriate piece of artwork that has been installed into the pavement.
The artwork (above) represents the environment and the location, mindful of the community, of local residents and the wider academic community – both staff and students.
The artwork builds on the wider regeneration of the Shelton area as part of the University Quarter project (UniQ).
