World Community Arts Day 2010

Students from the Creative Communities Unit helped celebrate the fourth annual, World Community Arts Day.
World Community Arts Day is a non-profit event that was started in 2007 by the Craigmillar Communiversity.
Creative Communities students studying ‘Making it Happen in Community Arts’ and ‘Community Arts in a Global Perspective’ have been engaged in a range of arts projects from crafts to theatre. They have been able to share their work with groups as far afield as Canada, Israel and Egypt.
Mark Webster of the Creative Communities Unit said “World Community Arts Day allows community arts groups worldwide to take stock of their work as well as linking up with groups engaged in similar projects, worldwide…this is the Facebook of Community Arts”
The Craimillar Communiveristy used community arts 30 years ago to transform their estate.
