The Automotive Engineering Centre at Carlow Place is the Faculty’s centre for Automotive and Motorsport studies. The centre is set up so students can effectively carry out practical projects in this area. The centre supports modules such as Transport Technology, Engine Design 1 and 2. It also supports projects at Post graduate and graduate level. Equipment and facilities include:
Fully equipped automotive workshop facilities, including hand tools, lifting equipment, ramps and stands.
An engine build and design area.
Chassis test area, including chassis measurement and balance equipment.
Vehicle control test systems including basic data loggers and OBD2 compliant measurement equipment.
Damper test equipment.
Classroom and student work areas
Wireless network and laptops for student use.
