Faculty Health & Safety Responsibilities

The Dean of Faculty is ultimately responsible for the administration and enforcement of all Faculty Health and Safety matters and for ensuring compliance with the University's Health and Safety Policy, advised as necessary by the Faculty Health and Safety advisor or by any other person, staff or students, who have knowledge of any potential or actual hazards.

Individual responsibilities are outlined in the Faculty Health & Safety Policy (see below), but in general terms all staff have a responsibility for their own safety and that of others around them.  The safety of all student work is the responsibility of the academic supervisor, and they have a duty to ensure that risk assessments are completed and approved by them as supervisors, whenever necessary.

For further information and/or guidance please contact either your line manager (for staff), your supervisor (for students) or the nominated Faculty Health & Safety advisor:
Steve Marsh, Faculty Technical Manager, s.marsh@staffs.ac.uk
Please note that the advisory role is not responsible for managing health and safety across the Faculty – the responsibilities for health & safety are as outlined within the policy.
