Computing Prizes

FCET Graduation 2009 Prizewinners. The Graduation ceremony is also an opportunity to reward extra special effort from graduates and other students.
Britannia Building Society prize awarded to the student with an outstanding performance on an award within the Computing award schemes, was awarded to Richard Charles Jones, BSc(Hons) Computing Science.
Julie Haycocks and David Lymer, senior IT manager and a former Faculty graduate, representatives of Britannia Building Society, presented the prize (a cheque for £250))

Capula prize for the best project by a student on an award within the Computing award schemes, awarded to Scott Moore, BSc(Hons) Computing Science
Nico Synodinos, representing Capula and also a former Faculty Computing Graduate, was in attendance to present the prize (a cheque for £100)
Capula also attend GradEX providing a judge and using it as part of their graduate recruitment process.

British Computer Society national prize for the best student on the Professional and Enterprise Development Module, awarded jointly to David Wilson, BSc(Hons) Computer Games Programming
and Simon John Alexander MEng(Hons) Computer Science: Graphics (Simon was not able to attend)
Both students have completed level 2 and have placements in Germany with Eurocopter
Ian Sunley, Chair of the local BCS branch presented the prize.

Institute for the Management of Information Systems (IMIS) prize for the best undergraduate student on the Faculty’s Stoke based awards, awarded to Rachael Blyth, BSc(Hons) Business Information Technology.
The prize of a year’s free student membership was presented by Dr Mike Hamlyn.

The National Student Survey prize sponsored by Staffordshire University and chosen by Ipsos-Mori from those students who completed the survey at Staffordshire was won by Simon Ingham Womersley BSc(Hons) Business Computing and Information Systems who received a cheque for £500 from Dr Mike Hamlyn
Engineering and Technology Prizes

Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) national prize for the student with the best overall performance on an accredited award within the Faculty of Computing, Engineering and Technology schemes of awards, awarded to George Alexander Royston (Leppi) Campbell, BSc(Hons) Film Production Technology by Bernard Lovett IET NW Midlands branch attending to award the prize (two year’s free student membership)

Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) NW Midlands regional prize and the Edward Riddel Shield for student excellence on an award within the IET’s scope of interests, awarded to
Saina Gronlykke Mpoke, BSc(Hons) Electronic Engineering by Jim Cooper, Secretary, IET NW Midlands branch (a cheque for £250) and watched by Dr Gordan Bancroft.
