International Partnership Students Graduate

Staffordshire University have been working with Asia Pacific University College of Technology & Innovation (UCTI) for many years in the fields of Computing, Engineering and Business at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. UCTI have a proud reputation for recruiting students globally and currently have students from 84 countries! Staffordshire University and UCTI work together in a truly collaborative partnership which provides students the opportunity of registering for ground breaking "Dual Awards" in many specialist areas. UCTI place a great emphasis on ensuring that their international students feel at home in Malaysia and offer a range of cultural activities. The Faculty of Computing, Engineering and Technology's Liz Hathaway, Faculty Manager-Market Development and Dr Neil Hart, International Partnerships Manager, were fortunate enough to attend one of these events last month.

UCTI have been recruiting students from several East African countries for some time now. A group of more than 30 of these students had completed their studies but would return home before the official UCTI convocation (graduation). UCTI therefore teamed up with these students to lay on a special East African Convocation Event. This was attended by all of the senior UCTI staff including Datuk Dr. Parmjit Singh, CEO, APIIT Education Group, Malaysia and several East African dignitaries (including the Kenyan High Commissioner to Malaysia, H.E. Amb. Samori Okwiya) while Staffordshire University was represented by Liz Hathaway and Dr Neil Hart from FCET. The event was spectacular with the celebrations ending with special dinner with samples of East African cuisine prepared by the students themselves. The graduates, dignitaries and some of the guests together at the entrance.
