CE00449-7 Applied Structural Integrity
Students will be provided with a comprehensive package of directed study using the specialist design environment provided within G01. Whilst software packages will be used to obtain solutions, it is the understanding of the solution methodology rather than the specific 'package related process' which is addressed. Due to the nature of the module, close didactic tuition is necessary, but this will be complemented with significant, independent problem solving.
Content
1.The solution of classical problems in
- Buckling
- Fatigue
- Stress concentrations
- Yield / FoS
- Thermal stress
- Contact stress
- Vibration
using ANSYS Workbench and by reviewing the underlying FEA theoretical basis of the solution.
2. To further develop the knowledge and understanding developed within 1 and apply them to case studies. To undertake these as professional design investigations and report using current procedures and practice
