Virtual uni display

Applied computing courses develop skills for practical computing issues in the workplace, producing computing solutions for real world problems.   Applied computing ranges from educational and business software through data analysis and web development to mobile applications.

A number of the applied computing courses can be studied part-time or through distance learning and are suitable for students who wish to combine a full-time job with study.

Many of the Faculty's degrees are offered as half a joint degree - contact the recruitment centre for more information on possible options.

In the field of digital applications for creative technologies recent students and graduates have won national and international prizes.  The most recent was best in class (mobile) and best in show by Luke McSorley at Euro Prix 07 with a guide for mountain climbers which gives location, map, weather and other information through mobile phone and PDA.  Luke is currently developing an Interactive Learning System for a client which will be used within the Northern Ireland civil service.  Other graduates from this course have have set up their own successful businesses, either alone or in partnership with fellow graduates, for example Chris Albutt (graduated 2002) of Text demon and TXD.   Computing facilities in use.
