Electronic and Electrical Engineering

Electronic PID control

Electronic and Electrical Engineering underpins our environment - just think of all the things that you can't do during a powercut or without batteries.  Engineers design, improve, invent and maintain electrical products and systems  from micro to massive and they have been linked to every technological move forward in our changing world.

Electrical Engineering

Electrical Engineering

Electrical Engineering encompasses the design and application of high voltage electricity networks. Applications include national and international electricity supply networks, high voltage power supply for rail networks as well as control and safety systems for power stations.

Also available as a part-time day-release study route with attendance at the University for approximately 27 days each academic year (one day each week for 24 weeks + assessment). The normal length of study is 4 years for part-timers who have an HNC in Engineering.

Electronic Engineering

Electronic Engineering

Electronic Engineering encompasses the design and application of electronic devices, circuits and systems, signal processing and communications. Applications include a wide range of artefacts and systems, some of which are obvious and familiar such as television, CD players, PC’s, cellular telephones and so on, to less obvious applications such as aircraft electronics, radar, the utilities such as gas, and manufacturing and commercial organisations. Electronic Engineering requires the understanding and application of sophisticated principles, techniques and technologies.

Electronic Engineering is also available as a part-time day-release study route with attendance at the University for approximately 27 days each academic year (one day each week for 24 weeks + assessment). The normal length of study is 4 years for part-timers who have an HNC in Engineering.

Electronic and Broadcast Engineering

This award brings together our strengths in  engineering, broadcast technology and computing.  Students gain CISCO skills and qualifications while using our Digital Broadcast TV studio.  They learn broadcasting technology including streaming and gain transferable core competencies in Electronics, Telecommunications, Signal Processing and Computer Networking with a special focus on Audio and Video Production and Broadcast Systems.

Media delivery has expanded from satellite, cable and terrestrial to include mobile devices (mobile phones, pocket computers and PDA) and the Internet. In addition to radio and televising broadcasters, educational institutes and enterprises are building broadcast enabled studios to produce and deliver audio visual material for e-learning, employee training, corporate communications and
commercial services.

We produce graduates that are qualified professional engineers capable of analysing, specifying, designing, commissioning, maintaining and managing complex multimedia broadcasting solutions.
