This Faculty has a reputation  within the computing industry sector for creating graduates with the technical skills, creative abilities and vision to succeed in what is one of the most fascinating and varied career sectors.  Our awards have a pedigree of passion, excellence and expertise that stretches back to the 1960s when we were there offering the first computing degrees.  We are renowned for experienced staff - many lecturers are former graduates who have worked in the industry and have now returned to pass on their knowledge and experience.

Put simply, we take pride in creating real computing professionals, in demand by industry. Indeed, graduating with one of our sandwich degrees means that you will not only have an Honours degree but will also have 12 months’ relevant, industrial computing experience with opportunities to spend this time working for leading names across the field of IT and overseas, or for your own business, set up with the support of the University through its SPEED (Student Placements for Entrepreneurs in Education) scheme. We also attract students to study with us from all over the world and as a consequence can arrange for you to study part of your course in one of our overseas partner institutions including Malaysia and China.

The majority of our computing degrees are accredited by BCS - The Chartered Institute for IT to Chartered IT Professional (CITP) status, with many additionally accredited to partial Chartered Engineer (CEng) status. In addition, our networking awards embed Cisco curriculum enabling you to gain a wide range of CCNA, CCNP and related Cisco networking certifications as you study.  Appropriate awards are also accredited by the Institute for the Management of Information Systems

Our computing awards cover a broad spectrum from applied computing and digital applications for creative technology, to software engineering, computer science, computer security, forensic computing, computer games programming, multiplayer online games programming, computer networks, multimedia and web awards.  A number of the applied computing awards can also be studied part-time or through distance learning and are suitable for students who wish to combine a full-time job with study.
