What our students say about us

Our graduates are the best advert possible for our courses and we'd love you to meet them - here are few of the things that they say...

Sophie Dewing, Film Production Technology, has worked at BBC Vision and is now working with the company Inclusive Digital TV in London and has been nominated (with classmates) for the Best Entertainment Award in the Royal Television Society Awards. The Television Studio Production module students have been nominated for their comedy panel show Hot Off The Press which hosted top comedians from around the country on two live shows which are now streaming online. The group of studio students completed the programme as part of their third year studies on the BSc Hons Film Production Technology Award.

"It was a great opportunity and great fun to work on.We worked with comedians from across the country and many were well known on the comedy circuit so the production felt very professional. It was a team effort and we spent hours rehearsing.
When you get a good grade at university you feel as though you've achieved but to get the recognition as well from industry itself for our programme we feel as though it's maybe not a dream and we really could be successful in industry! What's amazing about the module is it's exactly like it is in the industry , the fact wthat we could replicate the real world in the university was fantastic and having a whole television studio to ourselves to use the technology and production skills was exciting to do".

‘I studied Film Technology at Staffordshire University . . . it was boasting a brand new industry standard television studio at the time and the courses looked exactly what I was looking for.  While studying I applied to the London Studios and managed to get some work experience and upon graduating was offered a job at Envy Post’.

Forensic Computing student

'I've had a great time at Staffs Uni, met some of my best friends and the woman I'm going to marry (2011 hopefully!) - I'm now looking forward to starting my masters course.

...staff that deserve every bit of praise they should be getting:

Bob Shaw has just been vital to our course ... running Computer Forensics at staffs, the forensic industry will be begging for staffs grads... he also wants the best for his students, after some unfortunate family events last year, Bob was there to help.

Dan Brearley's passion about the subject is infectious. I find I dedicated more time and effort when doing assignments for this guy, as if he thought it was cool - then it must be a good piece of work.

David Hodgkiss quite obviously enjoys what he does, and the environment he works in and it shows in his dedication to the students. I've enjoyed passionate conversations with David about how software should be developed, Open -source concepts and even a famous faux pas on my account in regards to using jelly beans to fool a fingerprint scanner in our security lessons. In short, this guy connects with students.'

Ed Catchpole BSc (Hons) Computer Games Programming  “University was fantastic – everything I expected and a whole lot more.  The computer department has a fantastic reputation and it was the exact course I wanted.”
