A Faculty with Healthy Partnerships

Staffordshire University makes a significant contribution to the health economy at a local level in Staffordshire and Shropshire and at the wider National and International level. This is seen through the range of educational programmes provided and the innovative clinically focused research and consultancy work undertaken in key areas such as Ageing and Mental Health, Service and Practice Improvement, Spirituality in Health and Public Health. Involvement with health is seen across the University’s Faculties such as medical engineering, clinical psychology, business and art in hospitals projects all of which have close working relationships and involvement with the NHS, Health and Social Care, local community groups, sports providers and a wide range of voluntary and non government organisations.

This rich and diverse mix of work is built on a long established history of working flexibly with organisations at local and National level. Today we have a key focus on supporting organisations to develop their staff at all levels with a strong emphasis on practice development.

In the Faculty of Health we work closely with a range of organisations in both our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and it is these relationships that are key to the success of our courses in terms of quality, learning experience and employability.

We are keen to strengthen our existing partnerships and work with new partners. We are particularly keen to work with you to understand how we, as a University and a Faculty, can support your organisation's development through traditional routes of education and training, which may be bespoke to suit your needs, research, consultancy and knowledge transfer activity.

The Faculty produces a quarterly news update - HEalth Brief. To receive an electronic copy please email healthypartnerships@staffs.ac.uk

See a variety of video clips demonstrating the range of ways in which the University and particularly the Faculty of Health works with different customers and individual students to large organisations.

Clips include information about our customer focus and development of new training and education packages; information about health related research and development undertaken in partnership with the University; how we work with individuals to support them in developing new business and enterprise opportunities; our flexible approach.

Knowledge Transfer

Staff in the Faculty of Health at Staffordshire University have a wide range of knowledge and experience across a diverse area of the health field. We view health in its broadest sense and as such as well as traditional clinical health areas we also have expertise in public health, wellbeing, spirituality and dignity to name but a few. You can use this knowledge and our facilities to help you do business. Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTP's) provide an excellent way for you to tap into our resource as we work together on a project with the support of external funding.

Knowledge Transfer can transform what you do, how you work and improve your products or processes.

  • we help you select a star graduate who will work as your employee on a project defined by you.

  • the student's time is complemented by that of an academic mentor, a specialist in the area, who will work on the project with you. Your academic will spend regular time on site with your associate, ensuring the successful completion of the project.

  • as well as links to all parts of the University you will also tap into networks of knowledge beyond the University, gaining access to our considerable network of contacts.

  • building a strong relationship with the University gives you access to the latest technology and the brightest graduates the region has to offer.

  • projects make you money.

So what do you get and what does it cost?

A recent graduate (undergraduate, MSc or Phd) as a full time employee to complete an identified project, normally 12-24 months. Government funding pays a proportion of the salary depending on the size of the organisation and pays for academic expertise, training, travel and equipment. Your academic supervisor will give continuing access to University resources, equipment and staff etc as part of the relationship.

We see KTPs as the starting point of long relationships with companies. These relationships have two aims; to improve you business efficiency and effectiveness and to help us to relate what we do to business.

The project is 60% government funded for companies with less than 250 employees and 40% for those with more. Contact us using the details below to find out how much the project will cost you.
