Facilities and Library

The Law School Course enjoys excellent facilities in dedicated accommodation within the Law School building and adjacent to the Law Library.

The £3 million Law School exemplifies the University's commitment and approach to legal education and support. The spacious building, with its exciting design, set in an attractive setting, is based on a central law library surrounded by teaching and study rooms.

It includes two mock courtrooms, staff rooms, study areas and extensive Information Technology provision.

Course lectures will take place in the Ashley Building, adjacent to the Law School. These lecture theatres seat up to 200 students each and are equipped with the latest audio visual and computer technology. Some of the smaller lectures may also take place in Courtroom 2 (Room LW 140) on the first floor of the Law School building.

The Law School building also houses a "flagship" mock courtroom and small presentation lecture theatre on the first floor.

A key feature of our Legal Practice Course is the use of Information Technology and a development of the appreciation of the increasing importance of this element in the modern legal office. To this end, each Practice Office also contains personal computers served by a laser printer for the exclusive use of the students assigned to that office.

Apart from word-processing facilities, a comprehensive range of electronic precedents and full Internet access is available. Comprehensive IT training is given in the Foundation Course and all students are allocated e-mail addresses.
