About the Faculty
The Faculty of Sciences focuses its activities in five academic areas:
- Biological and Biomedical Sciences
- Early Childhood Studies
- Forensic Science, Policing and Criminal Investigation
- Geography, Sustainability and Environmental Management
- Psychology and Mental Health
All of our work emphasises our desire to offer courses and training that is relevant to current challenges and issues in science and appropriate for today’s employment market. Alongside a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses that can be studied on-campus and by online distance learning, we also offer off-the-peg and bespoke professional development and training courses for colleagues in industry, commerce and education.
Our success is demonstrated by our consistently high rankings in assessments by the Quality Assurance Agency and feedback provided by our students in the National Student Survey (NSS). For example, in 2007 our Forensic Science Department was rated top in the country in the NSS. Wherever possible, we engage with professional societies to gain their seal of approval and have achieved accreditation and recognition of our programmes of study with the Institute of Biomedical Science, the Forensic Science Society, the Royal Society of Chemistry, the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment, and the British Psychological Society.
Whatever your interest in Science, we have short courses or full degrees programmes that will provide you with the skills and knowledge to excel in today’s scientific environments.
