Facilities and Labs
Within the Faculty of Sciences many specialist facilities are available. These are often utilised not only by our students but by WBL and CPD course provision to external customers. They also provide the backup to our consultancy and services to business provision.
FaroARM Non Contact Laser Scanner
The ability to scan accurately any object and examine the model and data generated affords a number of advantages. There is also the opportunity to rapid prototype or recreate the scanned object in a number of different materials. The scanner is available for use by any appropriate organization and technical assistance is available for scanning and post scanning data manipulation. Biological Sciences Facilities
Biological Sciences prides itself on its caring and friendly atmosphere, we were graded as Excellent for our Teaching and Quality Assessement and continue to deliver innovative and inspiring teaching with state-of-the-art technical facilities. We have six designated undergraduate teaching laboratories at our disposal, together with a number of post-graduate and specialised facilities laboratories within the Mellor building. Forensic and Crime Science Facilities
Our Forensic and Crime Science Department has a vast range of equipment that our students have the opportunity to use, not only during their practical sessions, but also in their individual final year research projects. In our Analytical Suite we have a comprehensive selection of analytical equipment, and as well as these analytical instruments we also have an extensive collection of equipment used for the criminalistic aspect of forensic science. A crime scene scenario will be used to show the range of equipment we have here at Staffordshire University and also to show how they may be used to facilitate forensic investigations. Human Sciences
The HSL has an impressive array of laboratory equipment supported by experienced technical and research staff. There are three specialist customised laboratories designed to operate either singly or in combination. I.T. Suite
Within Sciences, a strong emphasis is placed on providing to students a technologically up-to-date learning environment. The use of IT has not been overlooked in this sense, and indeed has been expanded to become a teaching medium for non-IT oriented subjects. Psychology Facilities
Within Psychology we have four dedicated IT labs containing some 80 networked PC's and specialist psychology software. Further undergraduate facilities include laboratories for cognitive psychology research, a purpose built observation suite with remote video-recording facilities and a Human Sciences Laboratory. Students also have access to quiet study areas and the Sciences I.T. Suite and Sciences Learning Resource Centre. Read more about Psychology Facilities »
