Geography at Staffordshire University has been consistently highly rated by the Student Satisfaction Survey, the Guardian higher education league tables and the Higher Education Quality Assurance Agency [see QAA Top Marks]. The QAA identified more strengths at Staffordshire University than any other geography department in the country. In particular, the QAA recognised the supportive, student-centred learning environment that we provide to meet the diverse needs and competencies of our students.
Geography department 8th out of 62 departments across the country in the Guardian rankings 2011.
We offer a range of innovative and flexible undergraduate and postgraduate degrees that deliver fresh, original and contemporary courses e.g. sustainable development / management, mountain leadership.
Our excellent teaching and learning is supported by staff who as part of the Institute for Environment, Sustainability and Regeneration, have completed research projects for the European Commission, Health and Safety Executive, Earthwatch, local government and the private sector.
New postgraduate courses (MSc Sustainability and Natural Resource Management, MSc Sustainability for the Urban Environment)
have been developed as Joint Masters awards with the University of Madras, exclusively for candidates from the Indian sub-continent.
