Air and Ground Aviation Ltd is a Staffordshire-based aerospace aftermarket company. They procure, stock and distribute aircraft parts and aviation & land systems-related support equipment and have a vast inventory available for JIT solutions to a customer base that includes the commercial, military and defence sectors. They offer over 1 million lines of inventory, with over 350,000 lines stocked in their warehouse in Staffordshire.

The company needed a flexible system that could manage these daunting stock levels and provide an efficient customer interface. So they asked us for our help.

We set up a knowledge transfer partnership with our Faculty of Computing, Engineering and Technology and computer graduate, Mr Muhammad Habib Khan.

Working with the resources and knowledge base within the Faculty, Habib managed the design and implementation of a bespoke, state-of-the-art inventory management system and related online parts ordering system.

The system enabled better communication with customers and improved the tracking of quotations and customer orders, which in turn lead to greater customer satisfaction and a dramatic increase in repeat and new business.

And it’s expected that, over the next 5 years, the system will also enable the company to achieve their target turnover of £25million.

For his part, Habib achieved Project Management Professional status and accepted a job as Software Development Manager with the company.
