Case Study: Britvic Soft Drinks - Flexible and Responsive

Britvic Soft Drinks is one of the UK and Europe’s leading soft drink manufacturers. When they recognised that developing the capabilities and potential of employees was important for growth, they contacted Staffordshire University. And Britvic IT Academy was set up.
Professor Hanifa Shah of the Faculty of Computing, Engineering and Technology worked with Rob Pritchard, Britvic’s Head of IT Planning and Governance, to design a series of Academy workshops that were held at a variety of locations, including a manufacturing and distribution centre and Leicester’s National Space Centre.
These were so successful that Professor Shah and Bob Pritchard are now linking Britvic’s staff development requirements to an academic framework. This will recognise employees’ previous qualifications, learning and experience, and enable them to study for an award at an appropriate level and relevant to Britvic’s needs.
These courses are flexible and use a combination of e-learning, IT Academy activities and work-based learning projects.
This is a perfect example of how we can understand an organisation’s strategic objectives and then provide a tailored solution to address their specific needs.
