Green Policy

Our objective is to reduce our environmental impact and become a more sustainable University.  On a practical level this means giving advice and guidance to enable all to make the most effective use of natural resources.

From the gas we use for heating and the electricity consumed by lighting to the way we travel to the University and the waste we generate, all of our activities have significant implications for the environment. So we have set ourselves a programme of environmental improvement and we are taking action to:

• Implement an environmental management system to manage our impacts
• Control and reduce our energy consumption
• Reduce the amount of waste disposed to landfill by increasing the amount we reuse and recycle
• Manage our water use
• Promote more sensible forms of travel
• Where possible, use fairly traded ingredients
• Support local food producers and suppliers

We are really committed to making a difference and going green is not a term we use lightly.
