Funding for Businesses
Staffordshire University has successfully won a number of European and Government funded contracts to deliver projects to benefit SMEs – whereby we provide knowledge-based assistance for businesses, usually via consultancy.
The work may cover almost any aspect of business improvement, via collaborative applied research or ‘knowledge exchange’, but usually some form of innovation is involved. Crucially, if your business is investing in innovation, energy efficiency, technology or new product development you may be eligible for assistance, R&D tax credits and access to services – given which, you can link in to our applied research expertise to maximise your investment.
There are a lot of different schemes, both national and local, available via government to help businesses like yours fund collaborative R&D activity. Getting the hang of them all isn’t necessary for you – the Chamber of Commerce, Business Brokers and your local professional advisors have expertise in promoting what schemes are available and we have an internal team dedicated to the acquisition of these funding opportunities to encourage University staff to build collaborations with you.
A good example is the RESCO project The Renewable Energy Supply Chain Opportunities programme which gives businesses seeking to enter or expand their supply chain for renewable and low carbon products and services access to free business support, networking events and exposure to international export opportunities.
There are other funding opportunities, updated regularly, available to your business for accessing all of our applied research and the expertise of our staff and students. The best way to keep up to date is to get in touch.
