Whatever their level of study, students who are information literate will get more out of their time at University. Students with well developed information literacy skills will be better able to perform research, to evaluate the results of their search for material and data and so more able to decide on the steps to take next.
Their contributions to seminars and tutorials should improve as should their written work and its presentation. An information literate student should be a more independent learner: less reliant upon his or her tutor for support.
It goes without saying that such students will naturally make themselves more employable once they leave the University. They will also better equip themselves for living in the 21st century.
