Do I need to register with the Police?

If you are from one of the following countries and have been given permission to stay in the UK for over 6 months, you will need to register with the police:

Afghanistan, Algeria, Argentina, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Belarus, Bolivia, Brazil, China, Colombia, Cuba, Egypt, Georgia, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Libya, Moldova, Morocco, North Korea, Oman, Palestine, Peru, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Syria, Tajikistan, Tunisia, Turkey, Turkmenistan, United Arab Emirates, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Yemen.

 You will need to ensure you register within 7 days of arrival in the UK.

You will need to take the following documents:

  • Your passport
  • Your biometric residence permit
  • A passport size picture
  • The administration fee of £34 per person in cash (please note no change will be given, so please try and take the exact money)

Firstly, make sure you have thoroughly checked all the places it could be!

The next thing to try is the University Information Points, as it may have been handed in.

If you cannot find it, you must report he loss of your card to the police by calling 101. They will provide you with a crime reference number.

You will then need to inform the Home Office of the lost item, and then make an application for a replacement.

You will need to then obtain a replacement passport from the nearest embassy for your country.

If you are in the UK, most embassies are located in London. If you are outside the UK, you will need to check your government website to find the details of the nearest embassey to you.

Processing times will vary depending upon the embassy so be sure to check directly with them.

If you visa sticker was in your lost passport, you will also need to apply for a replacement visa. Please make an appointment with the International Student Support team for guidance on how to do this.

You must log into your evision portal to complete your online enrolment.

How do I complete face to face enrolment?

How do I complete face to face enrolment?

Once you have completed your online enrolment, you will need to complete face to face enrolment.

To do this you must come to the International Student Support team.

Bring along your passport and visa, and also any documents, transcripts, and certificates stated on your CAS. Also you should bring your completed induction voucher, whivh you will have following your attendance to compulsory welcome week induction sessions.

For short term study students, we will only require your passport and short term study visa.

Where do I collect my biometric residence permit from?

Where do I collect my biometric residence permit from?

This depends upon the address stated on your Home Office decision letter.

If you requested that your BRP was delivered to Staffordshire University, you can collect it from the International Student Support team. Please bring your passport and your Home Office decision letter with you.

If your Home Office decision letter states a local post office address, you will need to collect this yourself. Remember to take your passport and Home Office decision letter with you to do this.

Once you have completed both your online enrolment, and your face to face enrolment, you can be issued with your student card.

These can be issued at the Information Points located in the Brindley Building or the Cadman Building.

You must speak to the International Student Support team if you are thinking of changing to an alternative course. Immigration rules dictate whether you can change course, and which courses you can change to. Make an appointment to discuss this in more detail.

What do I do if i need to be absent from the University?

Should you need or wish to be absent from the University for any reason (e.g. travel home, vacation, conference, etc.) you will need to apply for the time away through the International Student Support team.
