Intercultural Mentoring

Intercultural Mentoring is jointly run by the International Student Centre of Staffordshire University and the Sponte of the Students Union.  This is a programme aimed at assisting incoming international students to overcome the pre-arrival feeling of foreignness, welcoming them to the university and providing friendly personal advice to them on living and studying in the UK. Mentors (current students or staff members of the university) and mentees (new incoming international students) are paired according to academic subjects, language and cultural interests or travelling experience etc. The contact will be mainly via email while face-to-face meetings would be welcomed (but not compulsory) after the mentees have arrived at the university.

As the mentoring moves on, it is hoped that the programme will be more mutually beneficial by offering opportunities to both mentors and mentees for cross-cultural growth and the development of international friendships.
