International graduate Jia Ying Gnoh says his experience at Staffordshire University has helped him become a designer for top global brands like Unilever and Nestlé.

Since graduating with a degree in BA(Hons) Graphic Design from the University, Jia Ying Gnoh is now working for London-based brand design agency Coley Porter Bell.

He said: "I graduated from Staffordshire University with great employability skills and an excellent portfolio – something that’s essential in graphic design.

"I worked to real challenges and live briefs, developed great communication and presentation skills and won the London-based brand agency, Coley Porter Bell, Shine Award. This meant a £3,000 cash prize and a three-month work placement.

"I now work for Coley Porter Bell full-time as a graphic designer. It’s proper work, with real commercial value, for global brand owners like Unilever and Nestlé."

"I now have a very rewarding career with BT. Having spent several years with the organisation in the UK, I currently work in the Asia-Pacific region for BT India. As for the immediate future, I plan to complete a DPhil in Marketing."

International MBA graduate Nitin Raj Srivastava says he found himself in a different league after graduating from Staffordshire University.

He said: "I graduated with an MBA in October 2008 and can honestly say that the University made a huge difference to my career.

"Studying and working with students from a number of different countries helped me to better understand and appreciate other cultures. My lecturers were inspirational for their sheer knowledge and brilliance."

Now Marketing Manager for BT India, he says the hands-on approach to studies inspired him.

"Key features of the MBA programme included a study tour to the Czech Republic and a 48 week industrial placement. There was no looking back for me after I was successful in securing my placement with British Telecom (BT) – something that helped my learning and development tremendously. I believe that my MBA dissertation, which was based on Customer Relationship Marketing, was instrumental in securing my job with BT and helped me in the interview."

International MSc Computer Science graduate Gregor Porzel used the skills he learned to gain a career at Thomson Reuters.
