6 November 20124 December 20124 December 2012Request for Information on the Makeup of your Workforce

This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000. I am contacting you from RunnymedeTrust where we are collecting information on the makeup of the public sector workforce at the beginning of 2010 and comparing it with the makeup of the workforce in 2012. We are undertaking the survey to assess the impact that public spending reductions have had on different equality groups within the workforce. We are keen to try to ensure that disadvantaged groups are not suffering a disproportionate impact as a result of public spending cuts.

I am therefore writing to you to request information on the total number of paid staff, and the total numbers of staff with certain characteristics (including age, gender, race, disability, religious affiliation and sexual orientation) at the beginning of 2010 and in 2012, at your institution. I understand that you should have access to this information in light of the equality monitoring duties of public authorities.

I request the following information:

1. The total number of employees, along with the number of employees (headcount) by ethnicity, gender, disability, age, religious affiliation and sexual orientation in 2012 as per the census categories.
2. The total number of employees, along with the number of employees (headcount) by ethnicity, gender, disability, age, religious affiliation and sexual orientation at the beginning of 2010 as per the census categories.

Please find attached an Excel spreadsheet in which you can input the information. If possible, all the grey boxes should be completed.

I would appreciate it if you sent me the information detailed above by return email by the end of November 2012.

If you require any further information about the research feel free to contact me or consult our website which gives further details of the project `In This Together? URL where you can also find a copy of the survey we have been using to collect data so far URL .
The report has been sent over to XXX, but not in the format she has requested as our system doesn't hold the information in the age groups and nationalities she required.
