All I want for Christmas...a helping hand with my Uni application

“We know that there are students who haven't fully got to grips with applying to University and so we have packaged up the support on offer including people on the end of the phone and email who are available throughout the busy festive period.”

Laura Knight, Education Liaison Manager

Staffordshire University is stepping up its support for University applicants ahead of the deadline for applications in January.

The help on offer includes a Personal Statement Checker – a service taken up by almost 500 prospective students in the campaign period last year!

Education Liaison Manager Laura Knight said: “We know that there are students who haven't fully got to grips with applying to University and so we have packaged up the support on offer including people on the end of the phone and email who are available throughout the busy festive period.”

“After schools and colleges break up, students will be turning their attention to their University applications and we'd like to reassure them that we can offer help with their personal statement, and any enquiries they may have about finance and UCAS tariff points which are changing.”

The Helping Hands service has been praised by Victoria Charlesworth (pictured) who is now enrolled on the first year of her degree in Media Film Production.

Victoria, 20, said: “I'd taken a year out and I received an email from Staffordshire University offering help with my personal statement. I already worked hard on my application but because I wanted to be a strong candidate, I decided to run my personal statement by them to see if I could make improvements.

“Within two working days I received a response to say where it was weak and needed some specific examples and where it was strong. I took the advice and I believe it helped me to get a place on my degree.”
