Diversity fashion show in aid of donna louise trust - 27/02/2008

Fashion, glamour and something a bit different are coming to the catwalk at Staffordshire University as the Students’ Union gears up for its second annual Diversity Fashion Show. The student-led show, taking place at the Union’s Leek Road campus nightclub, LRV, on Thursday 13th March, will showcase a diverse mix of styles, cultures and traditional dress, along with the latest Spring/Summer collections from high street favourites Burton New Look and Peacocks. Staffs uni researchers have the technology to fix eduardo-style leg injuries - 27/02/2008

FOLLOWING the Eduardo da Silva football injury a Staffordshire University medical engineer says: “We have the technology to help rebuild him.” The comments were made by Professor Peter Ogrodnik who has spent 18 years perfecting medical devices and techniques for the repair of shattered limbs, in particular, the tibia (shin bone). He has led the development of unique treatments for tibial fractures, including the Staffordshire Orthopaedic Reduction Machine or STORM. Round-the-World in 40 minutes lecture - 27/02/2008

Diversity doesn’t come anymore prevalent than worldwide so what better way to highlight foreign cultures than a round-the-world trip? As part of Diversity Month at Staffordshire University, Sam Wane will be taking the audience “round-the-world in 40 minutes” with a presentation on his year long journey, showing his adventures in Canada, America, New Zealand, Australia, Bali, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and India. The Presentation is taking place at 1:00pm on Wednesday 27th February at the Red Lecture Theatre, Octagon, Stafford, and is open to the public. Staffordshire University students make art a moving experience - 28/02/2008

Passengers at Stoke station can browse contemporary art while they wait thanks to an exciting partnership between Staffordshire University and Virgin Trains. Students from the Faculty of Arts, Media and Design proudly showed off their photographic work at an unveiling attended by the Lord Mayor of Stoke-on-Trent Bagh Ali and Staffordshire University Deputy Vice Chancellor Paul Richards. A graduate sports coaching company is providing opportunities for current students wanting to gain that vital industry experience. Time 4 Sport UK Ltd, started by Staffordshire University graduate Wayne Glover, is bringing something back to the students with his fledgling company – which is launching in early March. The company employs vetted and certified coaches “with new ideas and up-to-date practises that will only lead to a better standard of coaching for all” said Wayne, Managing Director of Time 4 Sport. New Dean appointed at Staffs University Business School - 29/02/2008

Professor Susan Foreman has been appointed as the new Dean of Staffordshire University’s Business School. Professor Foreman is responsible for the strategic direction and leadership of the School, which is based in Leek Road, Stoke and Stafford’s Octagon Building.
