Students at Staffordshire University are celebrating a bumper crop of nominations in a national design competition.
The students will travel to Café de Paris in London for the awards ceremony on Tuesday 14 November where they will exhibit their projects.
Course Leader for Graphic Design John Hudson, said: “The students' work will be showcased at the awards event and they will have the opportunity to network with industry professionals all afternoon. Hopefully the day will result in a number of internships too!"
The competition challenges undergraduates to work to a business brief and through these practical application based projects, the students gain valuable entrepreneurial and employability skills, as well as industry awareness.
BA (Hons) Graphic Design students Jacob Mountford and James Hansell have been shortlisted for the People's Choice Award, which is decided by an online public vote. Jacob responded to a brief to create a science fiction themed cover design of The Solutions Awards brochure and James' business idea Stop the Chop (pictured) aims to increase vegetable consumption for health and animal welfare reasons.
Fellow third year Graphic Design students Sean Anderson, Darren Finch, Leanne Haycock, Oliver Webley and Leah Whitehead plus Illustration student Moesha Jones have also been nominated across a range of categories in the competition.
John added: “The nine award nominations are testament to the students' talent, hard work and a dedicated team of tutors – we look forward to the event and collecting lots of awards on the day, go team Staffs!”
