Degree launches Zuzana on career as biomedical scientist

Slovakian-born Zuzana Tothova never imagined when she moved to Stoke-on-Trent that she’d be working as a biomedical scientist.

She enrolled on the BSc(Hons) Applied Biomedical Science degree at Staffordshire University and undertook her clinical placement in the University Hospital of North Staffordshire.

She said: “It gave me an overview of what I can expect when I finished the degree and what the real job is about.”

As well as achieving a First, Zuzana also won ‘best performance’ prize for Biomedical and Biological Sciences and an Institute of Biomedical Sciences award for ‘most improved student’.

She said: “I’ve really worked hard for the last three years. I never imagined I could be so successful and I’ve really discovered my potential.”

Zuzana has already secured a job in the Immunology department at the University Hospital of North Staffordshire but has not ruled out future study.
