"The lecturers were very supportive in trying to get us work experience. Lots of them have got contacts in firms around here and they put those contacts to good use."
Aaron Cope, LLB (Hons) Law
A Staffordshire University law graduate says his work placement was key in helping him to decide what direction his career will take.
Aaron Cope, 21, from Woodford Green, Essex embraced his University experience becoming captain of the hockey team and ultimately achieving a 2:1 in his LLB (Hons) Law course.
But it was his work placement at Beswicks law firm, that helped Aaron to combine his interests and set his sights on a future in sports law. He now plans to progress to a Masters course in September.
He said “The lecturers were very supportive in trying to get us work experience. Lots of them have got contacts in firms around here and they put those contacts to good use.
“I found it exceedingly helpful that they prompted me to go to Beswicks because otherwise I wouldn't have known what direction to go in.”
However Aaron feels his involvement with the hockey team and the Students Union have also given him valuable skills and experience.
“These are all things that can go on my CV and be carried onto later life and work. I'd definitely recommend getting a hobby or joining a society.”
