Andy Paton, Award Leader MA Feature Film Production

Staffordshire University have announced details of a new creative Masters degree which offers promising filmmakers the chance to carve out a career in feature film.

Launching in September, the MA in Feature Film Production offers exciting opportunities to work as a creative and technical production team on a feature length film ready for distribution.

The course is being delivered by BAFTA nominated filmmaker Mike Knowles and senior lecturer Andy Paton who have a wealth of experience in film production.

Mike, who recently produced award winning Away starring Timothy Spall and Juno Temple said: “The beauty of the course is that by the end of it, they will have had a large hand in directing, producing and editing a feature film and they get to work with industry mentors and award winning technical and creative staff to make it happen.”

Award leader Andy, who has made films for UK Film Council and Screen West Midlands, added: “Most people working in feature film find themselves doing so through hard work and experience. Building on the success of our film courses, we wanted to create a pathway to a career in feature film by equipping students with the necessary skills and competencies.”

“In other words, students will be given a real insight into production and the film business, taking on roles ranging from script development to packaging and distribution – all with the support of industry experts.”

“We want applications from people with a good relevant degree and the desire and commitment to take their filmmaking to the next level.”
