“We are fully committed to ensuring our portfolio is globally relevant and our inclusion in the THE World Rankings will help us to further our reputation for innovative and applied learning.”

Vice-Chancellor Professor Liz Barnes

Staffordshire University is celebrating a breakthrough to the 2019 Times Higher Education World University Rankings.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Liz Barnes said: "This is excellent news for our University which prides itself on being globally connected.

"We encourage students and staff to look worldwide in their pursuit of knowledge and the THE World University Rankings is acknowledgement that many of our academics are undertaking collaborative research and publishing with partners overseas.

"We are fully committed to ensuring our portfolio is globally relevant and our inclusion in the THE World Rankings will help us to further our reputation for innovative and applied learning.”

Now in their 15th year, the THE World University Rankings ranks 1,258 of the world's leading research universities on a number of factors including reputation and numbers of research citations and publications over a five-year period.

The news comes hot on the heels of Staffordshire University's success in the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide where Staffordshire climbed to 9th of 133 UK higher education institutions for teaching quality, rising to 57th overall. Earlier this year, Staffordshire University also climbed 23 places to 44th in the Guardian League Tables.

Professor Barnes said: "We’ve had a hugely successful year in League Table performance which are all positive indicators that our Connected University strategy is helping us to deliver great courses, teaching and student experience as well as impactful research which benefits our communities and transforms lives."
