Peter Rudge, Associate Professor of Motion Picture Industries

Staffordshire University Associate Professor Peter Rudge has been selected to speak at the TEDx event to be held at Stoke on Trent 6th Form College on December 3rd 2016.

Peter, who is Associate Professor of Motion Picture Industries and a voting member of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, is one of 12 inspirational speakers to talk at the day long event.

TED talks have become recognised as a global platform for leading figures from the world of business, the arts and entertainment, technology, education and society.

Talks have been given by many major figures - from Bill Gates to J.J. Abrams, Douglas Adams to Bono, Tim Berners-Lee to Al Gore - and TED has become a huge international online hit. The event is filmed and talks are then available at the TED Youtube channel, attracting millions of views from all round the world.

TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience and the theme of the event in Stoke on Trent is ‘Facing the Future’.

Peter's talk entitled  'Finding Value in the Impossible' is about the groundbreaking feature film concept 'The 72 Project', where a complete feature film is shot and edited in just 72 hours. With three films shot in three different countries over the last eight years, the 72 Project is becoming a global phenomenon. Peter’s talk will consider how the 72 Project can help us look beyond the old models of innovation and release us to achieve the seemingly impossible.

Peter said: "It's a really exciting to be selected and a great opportunity to talk about The 72 Project. It’s also a huge honour to be representing Staffordshire University at this event."

TEDxStoke is part of this drive to look ahead at the new possibilities and opportunities which exist for Stoke as a world city."
