Staffordshire University to host premiere of Pro Pig: The Movie

I live my life believing it is a trial and error process. During this trail, I hope to get you thinking about times in your life where you've given up on your goals and ask yourself…"What’s stopping me from achieving my dream?"

A FILM which documents the impact a street artist has had on the lives of people in North Staffordshire is set to be premiered at Staffordshire University.

The film is the work of Inspired Film and Video, a successful film production company started by Staffordshire University graduates more than 10 years ago. They were approached by the elusive graffiti artist Professor Pigment who has recently announced a new art trail of his work.

Professor Pigment: Trail and Error will lead from his secret studio above Entrepreneurs in Picadilly, City Centre via The Potteries Museum and Art Gallery to One One Six Gallery in Stoke Town Centre.

Mike McDonald of Inspired Film and Video said: “Pro Pig has created quite a stir locally and we are delighted the University could support us in the making of the film Trail and Error: The Movie about a graffiti artist who has made it his mission to make people of the Potteries feel pride in their area. It’s also fitting that the film will be premiered at the Film Theatre which is on the route of the trail.”

Although evidently a keen Stoke City fan, few people are aware of the person behind the spray cans who has immortalised local heroes like Lemmy, Nello and Ryan Shawcross through his art.

Announcing his tour, Pro Pig said: “I live my life believing it is a trial and error process. During this trail, I hope to get you thinking about times in your life where you've given up on your goals and ask yourself…"What’s stopping me from achieving my dream?" Hopefully, you'll realise that there isn’t anything standing in your way apart from attitude and self-belief.”

Staffordshire University Dean of the Faculty of Art and Creative Technologies Astrid Herhoffer said: “There is a tantalising air of mystery surrounding this artist who has chosen to make Stoke-on-Trent their canvas. We feel that the premiere is complementary to our own Show and Tell exhibition which opens on Friday June 10 and showcases the creative talents of our students. It is also hotly rumoured that Pro Pig will be attending the premiere.”
