"Lecturer Rob Marsden gave me a lot of advice about how I could get my career moving. The academics build quite a rapport with you and they have your best interests at heart."
Matthew Bagnall, BA (Hons) Acting and Theatre Arts
A theatre enthusiast from Wolverhampton is now passing on his skills to a new generation after celebrating his Masters qualification from Staffordshire University.
Matthew used the tailored course content to enhance his specialist knowledge and put his ambitions of becoming a drama teacher on the right track.
Since completing his MA, Matthew has gone on to complete a PGCE and is now using the skills he developed at Staffordshire University in his role as a drama teacher at a special educational needs college in Coventry.
“At Staffs, I matured a lot as a person, it gave me a lot of people skills which I have to use every single day in the classroom.”
“Lecturer Rob Marsden gave me a lot of advice about how I could get my career moving. The academics build quite a rapport with you and they have your best interests at heart. They always want you to do well.”
Matthew found that there was more written work involved with the postgraduate degree but he welcomed the opportunity to research areas related to his career goals.
“If it's something that you're passionate about, which I am with drama and theatre practice, you will enjoy the challenges of postgrad study.”
He hopes to complete further qualifications to specialise in special educational needs whilst he teaches.
