Thrillseekers Wanted – a University recruitment event mixing Business with pleasure

"Since the Foundation Degree in Visitor Attraction and Resort Management began in September 2016 we have helped equip individuals with the skills, experience and qualifications they need to work in the leisure industry. Many of the graduates are now starting their careers within Alton Towers Resort and the wider Merlin business, which is testament to the course. We can't wait to welcome more undergraduates to the event and next year's programme."

Students interested in studying a Business degree at Staffordshire University in September are being invited for a free taster – at the UK's favourite theme park.

The Thrillseekers Wanted event at Alton Towers Resort on Tuesday 24th July comprises a number of workshops in undergraduate subject areas including Business Management, Tourism and Events Management and Accounting and Finance as well as the MBA and prospective students could be offered an interview leading to an offer of a University place.

As an added incentive, all those booked on to the free morning event at Alton Towers Conference Centre will be entitled to enter the park on the day with family and friends for just £11 per person.

Rachel Gowers, Associate Dean for Recruitment in Staffordshire Business School, said: "We’re delighted to be partnering with Alton Towers on this new initiative. We know many school and college leavers will be heading to the theme park in coming weeks and that not all of them are decided about their futures."

"The great thing about the workshops on offer is that they are looking at business courses we offer from the perspective of the theme park, and we have Love to Shop vouchers available to be won so all in, this promises to be a great day out."

Staffordshire University are sponsors of the Alton Towers Education Centre and also worked with the resort to launch the first Foundation Degree in Visitor Attraction and Resort Management which includes a 20-week paid work placement at the resort.

Jason Mumford, Senior Recruitment and Learning and Development Manager, said: "Partnering with Staffordshire University allows us to provide a truly unique opportunity to those pursuing a career in the business sector or leisure industry.
