“In recent years we have made significant improvements to our Stoke campus and we are continuing to do so. We are confident these new plans will help to provide students with the best possible experience and in keeping with the University Quarter vision, we are focused on creating a vibrant safe and attractive environment for everyone who lives, works and studies in the area.”

Plans for the £40m development of Staffordshire University’s Stoke campus are to be revealed as part of a community consultation event this week.

The University has submitted a number of planning applications to Stoke-on-Trent City Council affecting both College Road and Leek Road sites in the University Quarter and the plans will be available to view at a drop-in event taking place this Thursday evening.

Director of Finance and Infrastructure Margaret Monckton said: “Last year the University announced its decision to move to a single main campus at Stoke-on-Trent by 2016. Since that time we have determined what additional facilities are needed to accommodate our Computing and Entertainment Technology courses which will be transferring from Stafford and how we can transform our Stoke campus to benefit all students.”

Invitations to the community consultation event have been sent out to residents, businesses and community groups in Shelton and members of the University Project Team, including Margaret, will be on hand to explain the plans, answer questions and address any concerns.

She added: “We want to engage the wider community in our plans to create a complete campus experience and we welcome their feedback on our proposals which involve a mix of new and repurposed buildings and the creation of additional car parking.”

The Community Consultation event takes place at The Pavilion in College Road from 5.30pm – 7pm. However the plans will remain on public display in the Pavilion until Friday April 10. The plans will also be available to view on the Stoke-on-Trent City Council website.
