Areas of Focus - Centre for Practice and Service Improvement

Centre members apply innovate, appropriate and effective methodologies to interrogate areas of strategic importance in a variety of organisations stretching from the NHS to Local Authorities to the Private and Commercial Sector. CPSI has a variety of joint appointments with local Trusts focused on mental health, midwifery and patient experience improvement and joint ventures with commercial companies across the innovation and change management sectors. Developing knowledge across this broad base allows CPSI to share best practice across sectors and produce innovative research and strategic solutions for our clients.

Examples of our current research initiatives include-

• Using social media to transform community services
• The application of tele-health in weight reduction
• Using new media in areas of midwifery practice improvement
• Enhancing service user experience through discharge planning

Monograph series

The CPSI monograph series was initiated in 2008.  The series was designed to facilitate further collaborative working between CPSI members, and to provide an opportunity for members of staff with little previous publishing experience to write about their research work.  Topics include all areas of practice and service improvement, with a particular focus on the importance of collaborative working.  To date, there have been 3 monographs produced as follows :-
