Paul W. Jones trained at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) and has thirty years professional theatre experience, as a technical practitioner and a Production and Stage Manager, both locally and nationally. He is also a specialist in Lighting Design and Health and Safety in theatres.

He has wide experience of many performance forms and spaces. From drama to dance and experimental theatre, from classical orchestral, musicals and "cabaret" music-theatre to children's theatre, puppetry and pantomime - in repertory theatres, commercial playhouses, alternative spaces and on tour to many theatres, arts centres and concert halls throughout the country.

He spent many years at the prestigious Royal Exchange Theatre, in Manchester and has also worked for the West Yorkshire Playhouse, in Leeds, the Theatre Royal in Bath, The Belgrade Theatre in Coventry, The Derby Playhouse, and locally in the celebrated New Vic Theatre. He has been involved in nearly two hundred stage productions and worked with many influential theatre directors, including Michael Elliot, Casper Wrede, Braham Murray, Adrian Noble, Nick Hytner and Peter Cheeseman.

He is a member of the Stage Management Board of The National Council for Drama Training (NCDT) and a member of the Association of British Theatre Technicians (ABTT), The Association of Lighting Designers (ALD), and The Society for Theatre Research (STR). His research interests include local and eighteenth-century theatre companies and playhouses. He is currently writing a book on Georgian strolling-players and working with the extensive archives of The New Victoria Theatre, which were deposited with the library of Staffordshire University in 2002.

Paul is the Award Leader for the Drama & Theatre Arts Course.
