The Peter Cheeseman Lectures

Peter Cheeseman

Peter Cheeseman was actively engaged with his work on the Victoria Theatre archive and other projects up until his passing in April 2010.

Obituary: The Guardian | The Times

Peter Cheeseman was Director, for thirty five years, of the Victoria Theatre in Stoke on Trent and, latterly, the New Victoria Theatre, Newcastle under Lyme. Cheeseman's work was rooted in the cultural aspirations of the post-war British repertory movement and nourished by the social history and struggles of the industrial community that he celebrated in his documentary plays. Speakers are invited to give a lecture related to a general theme of the importance of the arts to ordinary people.
