Before university: Poynton sixth form

I am working for Skysports.com in Leeds. Started on the all sport desk and now working for the football desk. Emailed Sky Sports, told them my background and they offered me a three- day trial. That progressed to a month trial and they offered me a guaranteed five shifts per week at the end of that. Basically write about world football for the Sky Sports website. Just been given more responsibility and am now writing a few features which is what I enjoy doing most.

The best thing about the course was the writing side and being able to be as creative as you want. You are given the freedom to write on whatever interests you and I enjoyed this aspect of the course especially the dissertation.

The course also sets you up for work because you have to go out there and ring people up in order to get quotes. It’s too easy for emails to get lost and they are easy to ignore so I found that I got answers when I pestered people and rang them up. When I did get to speak to people I found the majority were more than happy to talk to me.
