Richard Randle – Media & PR Officer representing Brands Hatch and other racing circuits
BA (Hons) Sports Journalism (2008)
Before university - Arrow Vale Community High School, Redditch

"Immediately after graduation, the global recession hit hard. However, I had a dream, so visited racing circuits around the midlands such as Donington and Silverstone) basically to learn more about individual series and get some photos, as I was then considering a career in photography after completing a photojournalism module at Staffs. I was granted press accreditation on behalf of a local paper a couple of times and even had photos grace specialist publications.
I also supported my local hockey club, and still continue to do this, supplying images and words for the club website and local newspaper. This was unpaid, done purely out of the love of the sport and enabled me to build up a great portfolio! I then found a job at MotorSport Vision, applied for it, got it and moved to Kent. The rest, as they say, is history and I’m now a Media & PR Officer for the company, representing Brands Hatch as well as the other circuits in the group.
I’m still fairly open minded about where my career will take me, or even if I’ll remain in motorsport. Motorsport is something I know well, but as a determined self-improver I’ll generally take any chance I can to further myself. I’m not necessarily looking for a career in Formula One, although naturally if a job comes up there then great! In an ideal world I’ll stay at MotorSport Vision for a few more years and continue to build up my experience. After that, who knows?!
There were many, many positives about life at Staffordshire. I started as a very shy and reserved person, but quickly learned who I was and what I was capable of.
A lot is said about moving away to university, but upping sticks and heading to a new location certainly had its benefits when doing the same in 2010 to move to Kent for my new job.
The course at Staffordshire was a big influence on my career, I learned how to interact with professionals, the importance of a good contacts database, and fine-tuned my writing skills, as well as learning new techniques and generally gaining confidence all round."
