As a student at Staffordshire University I worked part-time as a Student Ambassador. This role, working with young people and potential students helped me to gain my first full-time job as a graduate at the university working as a senior student advisor. This job involved travelling around the UK to promote higher education generally and Staffordshire University specifically in schools and colleges.

As a recent graduate I was able to give advice and guidance to students based on my own experience. In January 2010 I gained promotion at the university to become an International Recruitment Officer. My new role involves travelling the world to recruit both undergraduate and postgraduate students to the university. I also deal with international alumni and help with international marketing.

I am still keen to pursue a job within journalism, specifically music journalism. I would love to link in my experience in travelling to work in the media and perhaps to attend music festivals to review live music overseas.
I am keen to travel the world and enjoy working with international students. Teaching and helping students has always been a possible career choice for me and the chance to travel is a huge bonus.

The main reason why I chose to come to study BA (Hons) Journalism at Staffordshire University was the passion and experience the lecturers have for the course. The support and advice I received here as a journalism student was absolutely fantastic. Even though I have not gone straight down the journalism route I feel the course has given me a great deal of confidence in my own ability as well as being able to talk to large groups of students and on a one-to-one basis.

My attention to detail and standard of English language has vastly improved and this has been a great help in my first two roles since graduation. Some of the skills gained on the course contributed to me receiving a Customer Service Award at the 2009 University Staff Awards.
