By Ben Lowe: Seven men have been charged with racially or religiously aggravated disorder offences following the English Defence League demo in Hanley.

They include two from Stoke-on-Trent, aged 28 and 32, and a 28-year-old from Keele, who have all been bailed pending further inquiries.

Seventeen arrests were made after around 1,500 EDL supporters protested against Islamic extremism in the city centre.

Police say six officers, two from Staffordshire and four from visiting forces, received minor injuries and five of their vehicles were damaged during the clashes.
